Lipactin General Information

Lipactin is a medication that is applied topically to the lips to treat the cold sores and lip lesions that are primarily caused by Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1. This medication does not cure Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 however it does drastically reduce the level of pain experienced as well as the duration of the cold sores associated with this condition. This medication is applied topically three to five times a daily for the duration that the cold sores or lip lesions are present. How does Lipactin work?

Side Effects

There are few side effects that have been reported when using Lipactin. One of the most commonly reported side effects is numbness and tingling where the medication has been applied. Another more serious side effect that has been reported is local hypersensitivity.
